Stephanie Doucet
Senior Lawyer, Founder
Stephanie is a dedicated family lawyer with a passion for advocating for families. After working in many customer-facing roles within the workforce, Stephanie pursued an honours specialization in philosophy at Western University with a view to attending law school. This transition laid a strong foundation for her legal career and advocacy skills.
After completing her bachelor’s degree, Stephanie attended law school at Western University, where she developed an interest in family law. Her enthusiasm for oral advocacy led her to excel in oral advocacy competitions, including in the Lerners LLP Cup Moot. Stephanie went on to represent her school in the Laskin Moot, a national bilingual competition. These incredible experiences solidified Stephanie’s passion for oral advocacy.
Stephanie articled at a prominent firm in London, Ontario, where she gained valuable experience advocating for clients in different areas of law. This opportunity reinforced Stephanie’s commitment to excellence for all of her clients.
In June 2016, Stephanie was called to the bar, which marked a significant point in her professional career. She went on to work at a boutique family law firm in London, Ontario. This hands-on experience included advocating for clients in many forums and managing responsibilities that showcased her proficiency and resilience as a lawyer.
In March 2018, Stephanie founded her law firm, now established as Doucet Family Law. Doucet Family Law is a testament to her leadership, determination, and commitment to serving local families in need. Her depth of experience, personable demeanour and unwavering tenacity make her a strong advocate for clients navigating complex family law matters.
By combining her natural desire to work with people and her background in client-facing roles, Stephanie brings a compassionate and focused approach to her legal practice.
Outside of her legal work, Stephanie is committed to community involvement. She serves as the chair of a local not-for-profit organization and has served as a judge in oral advocacy competitions for law students. In her personal time, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her family.
Tammy Mitchell
Law Clerk
As a law clerk, Tammy brings a wealth of experience with her diverse educational background and passion for assisting families. During her time at Fanshawe College, Tammy completed the law clerk program and also received a diploma in marketing.
Within the scope of family law, Tammy finds satisfaction in assisting clients through these challenging moments in their lives. Every case she works on is unique and she relishes the opportunity to provide personalized support and guidance.
Since joining Doucet Family Law in 2018, Tammy has been an invaluable asset to our team and she is known for her exceptional client management and detailed drafting of legal documents. Tammy simplifies the complexities of family law for our clients, providing compassionate and experienced support. Whether she is crafting Separation Agreements or preparing complicated financial statements, Tammy’s dedication to our clients’ needs shines through in every aspect of her work.
When not at work, you will find Tammy with her nose in a book or tending to one of her beloved animals.
Suzie Laku
Law Clerk
Suzie’s decision to pursue a career in law was fueled by her deep interest in the relationship between law and society as well as her desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Her passion for advocacy combined with a commitment to justice and fairness has been the motivation behind her work. After developing a strong foundation in Sociology and Criminology from King’s University College, Suzie attended the law clerk program at Fanshawe College, where she excelled academically as an honour-roll student.
Suzie is passionate about family law and finds satisfaction in helping clients navigate their family law matters by providing essential support during complex legal processes. The opportunity to assist in resolving disputes, protecting the rights of individuals, and prioritizing the well-being of children, is especially rewarding for Suzie. Family law is a field where she can continuously learn, grow, advocate for those in need, and strive to make a positive impact in the lives of each client.
Outside of work, Suzie is an avid painter and enjoys reading thrillers as well as autobiographies. She also likes to stay active by going to the gym and spending time outdoors at the beach.
Gabrielle Piascik
Associate Lawyer
Gabrielle is a new Associate Lawyer at Doucet Family Law.
She earned her LLB/JD from the University of Southampton, where she held an executive role with the Canadian Law Society, mentored first-year law students, and was selected to participate in the Joint Enterprise Appeal Project at her university, led by the campaign group JENGbA, which aims to address wrongful convictions and advocates for legal reform. Gabrielle later obtained her LLM from Osgoode in Toronto, Ontario, where she participated in a consumer protection legal education project with Pro Bono Students Canada (PBSC) and was an executive member of the Osgoode Mental Health Law Society.
Gabrielle articled at a civil fraud litigation firm in Toronto, Ontario, and has experience working as a law student for a criminal defence firm.
Through her education, work experience, personal encounters, and volunteer work, Gabrielle has developed a comprehensive skillset that she brings to her family law practice. She has a passion for serving her community and ensuring access to justice for all individuals.
Gabrielle has a limited working proficiency in Polish, which further diversifies her practice.
